Rigi des Alpes
As part of the Rigi Des Alpes project, the first four Swiss Wikkelhouses, are being built on the Rigi. The overall project includes the comprehensive renovation of an Art Nouveau hotel dating from 1899, as well as a complementary new building constructed using timber. The four Wikkelhouses will be located south of the existing buildings and will blend into the overall concept as standalone residential units.
We are particularly pleased that all four houses have already been sold. One of the Wikkelhouses will be used as an Airbnb accommodation in the future, allowing guests to experience living in a Wikkelhouse for themselves.
Successful Handover of the First Swiss Wikkelhouse Project
Update July 16, 2026
On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the big day finally arrived: On the Rigi, the first four Wikkelhouses produced in Switzerland were officially handed over to their new owners. This step also marked the successful completion of the first Swiss Wikkelhouse project—a special milestone for Wikkelhouse Switzerland, just under a year after entering the market.
The four Wikkelhouses were manufactured at our production facility in Flüelen and then assembled on the Rigi. After months of intensive planning, production, and assembly, we are very pleased to have successfully completed the project and handed over the houses to their new owners.
Three of the Wikkelhouses will be privately owned, while the fourth will be rented out as vacation accommodations. This will give interested guests the opportunity to experience living in a Wikkelhouse for themselves.
Our project partners, Herger Home and Tinoph AG, with whom we had the privilege of collaborating on this project, were also present at the handover. The successful cooperation of all parties involved played a key role in ensuring that the first Swiss Wikkelhouse project was implemented according to plan and handed over on schedule.
With the successful completion of this project, Wikkelhouse Switzerland’s first showcase location has been established on the Rigi. At the same time, the project confirms that the Wikkelhouse concept can be successfully implemented in the Swiss market and lays the foundation for further projects that are already in the planning or implementation stages.
For our entire team, this project is far more than just a successful handover. It is the result of a great deal of dedication, craftsmanship, and intensive collaboration over many months—from development and production in Flüelen to assembly on the Rigi. The fact that we were able to successfully complete our first Swiss Wikkelhouse project less than a year after entering the market makes us proud and motivates us for the projects ahead. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all employees, partners, and stakeholders who made this milestone possible.
Update 03.06.2026
The four Swiss Wikkelhouses on the Rigi are now entering the final phase of construction. During calendar weeks 21 and 22, the kitchens were installed and numerous finishing works were completed.
In the wet rooms, particularly exposed surfaces received an additional protective coating. This improves resistance to moisture and supports easy cleaning and maintenance during daily use.
The recirculating air heating systems have been fully installed, while preparations for the electrical, fibre-optic and water connections have also been completed. Work is currently focused on planning the protective conduits for the underground service lines to ensure the long-term durability of the infrastructure.
With each completed milestone, the project moves one step closer to completion. The remaining works primarily involve the final connections and finishing details before the four Wikkelhouses are prepared for final cleaning and handover.
